Logic Pro X monitoring not working but only with new inputs? This is a really bizzare problem I cannot figure out. So I have a Focusrite 2i2 plugged into logic. Works great no complaints usually. Today I cannot get NEW inputs to work? What I mean is if I open a song with tracks already recorded, I can click on them and play and I can hear the output monitored in headphones.

If I add a new track that one will not play through output. However it picks up and records just without monitoring. Creating a whole new song same problem, old songs, same problem. I’ve reset my computer unplug the focusrite. My auto input and software monitoring are both checked also, again monitoring works right on previously created tracks.

The only thing that’s different is this week I got a DJ Controller and I was using that on Serato for the last couple days and now going back to logic for the first time in a few days and this is happening. Now then, the manual also includes the following “tip”:. When input monitoring is on, the Record Enable button and the Auto Input Monitoring feature do not affect software monitoring – that is, you can always hear incoming audio signals. However this does not see to work for me- that is to say switching on the input monitoring button will still not allow input monitoring during playback if the track is also record enabled and auto input monitoring turned on. Easy enough to work around I know, but just wondering if I am doing something wrong or whether the manual is wrong.

My new Logic Pro Book is out! That’s been my experience and when I shared it with the Logic team they told me they were aware of the bug. And this bug is still present in Quite annoying indeed. Are you really using Mac mini 2. I know this is because some functions need to reset the core audio engine but it’s confusing anyway. Kind of details that bother me.

No, what I was experiencing was in September of last year, so in Logic Pro 9 – way before that new pref was introduced! Now you need some coffee. This is what I am experiencing. I have the same problem – when trying to record, say, a guitar – I can only hear myself when I’m recording, not when the track is playing back on its own or stopped. This problem has been there since beginning, tried multiple interfaces , auto input monitoring, etc. For years now I haven’t been able to play a dry guitar and hear myself unless I’m recording.

Think about that!! Also, right now I’m trying to record Reaktor software instrument as audio by routing audio of Reaktor to a bus, then picking it up on the audio track input. In order to record the sound, I need to be able to enable input monitoring on my audio track – however I don’t even see the I or R button on the audio track. This problem I haven’t seen anywhere online so willing to bet its my mistake but still..

There should be an input monitoring and record I, R button on my audio track. What am I missing here? Any hints on how to avoid this input monitoring issue? I can’t get to hear my instrument when playingback the session, nor recording.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options David Nahmani Posted September 16, I haven’t experimented with auto-input monitoring in LPX yet, but in general input monitoring and record-enabled software monitoring is not working as expected in LPX.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. This is a bug Apple is aware of. I thought Input monitoring did work, only not for the internal microphone which will change the fader level and not jump back? At least that’s my experience so far. I too spent too much time troubleshooting my system here when it did not work – so it was nice to hear that it wasn’t an isolated issue but a known bug.

Posted October 22, I had the same problem, sort – no monitoring until I hit record. But dechecking Allow Quick Punch in under Record solved the issue. Now I have to switch it back and forth from the “R” to the “I” icon in order to pass sound switching between recording and playback. Can anyone help solve this?

Don’t ever record enable an audio track. Just select the “I” input monitoring. When you hit record, the track will arm. When you stop, it will unarm and it will always pass audio thru. My Studio.
