The simple answer is.. Going more in depth, the sudo apt-get update the first command in install. Then running the commands in install. I was attempting to do this using a 16GB USB stick that got filled up very quickly with updates and ran out of space. Thus then deciding to install Linux Mint onto the hard drive and try again.
