If the subscription expires then you will not be able to access your own data. The software access is limited to subscription-only. In case you cancel the subscription then you were no longer able to access the QuickBooks software. You have to export the data before your QuickBooks Desktop subscription expires or before canceling it. Kinda pricey but losing my data made it worth it. This product is awful. Everyone should know up front that Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online are absolutely utterly completely different beings. They look nothing like one another in the user interface, menus, and features. Finding this Desktop version impossible to figure out on my own, I went online to look at some of the tutorials. And if you enter something incorrectly, it is so interconnected that it’s difficult to delete B because it is transactionally linked somehow to A and C This makes learning by experimentation extra difficult.
I found the pricing kind of sleazy, too. If you sign up, you get the first 3 months at half price. If you think you absolutely must use QB, then go for the Online version.
I returned it and used a completely different product for my accounting. I’ve used QB for years. Never before had a problem installing from a CD. Cost is now ridiculous. Just using it for a small set of church books. QB is about to price itself out of the market. I have used quickbooks for many, many years both at places I have worked as a bookkeeper and when I had my own business.
I am retired now but still use it for our personal financial information. The version that I had was and wasn’t going to be supported anymore so I needed a new version. This is it! Still a good package, and I wanted the desktop version. More expensive than it has been but it looks like Intuit is trying to get past having desktop versions of their software. Everything now days seems to a subscription or a cloud based thing and I refuse to go anywhere near the cloud if I can help it.
Glad that I could get this. I don’t have a huge laptop and was concerned that the open windows of the app would be cut off, but they seem to scale well. In this respect, this version seems to be an improvement over the Quickbooks version I was using on an older, larger laptop.
